Literature Text

“Until the sun sets again my darling,” Thailog’s words were as fake and transparent as he was, but Delilah played along and kissed him anyway. As long as he believed that she was his loyal servant he would continue to share his secrets, after all what better confidant than someone that is genetically engineered to be a slave to him.

“Until sunset my love,” Delilah slid from his arms as he turned to face the sunrise. Unfortunately for him, she had her mother’s strong will and independent nature. Which mother she took after most was up for debate. She had never met either one in person, she had always remained hidden whenever Demona was around and she only heard stories of Elisa.

“Now hide somewhere no one can see you,” Thailog ordered. “If any one sees you our cover will be blown.”

“I kn--,” She cut herself off before he could hear the tone of her voice. She opened the door to a secret chamber and entered. “Yes, master.” She left the door cracked open just enough as to be able to see Thailog turn to stone in the dawn’s light. Another trait that she inherited from one of her mothers was the fact that she doesn’t turn to stone by day. “You fool,” She marveled at yet another secret that she kept from him. “You’re arrogance will be the death of you.”

Delilah walked back to his side. She spread her wings and let them take in the heat from the morning sun. It had become a daily routine but each day came closer to being different. “Is today going to be the day?” She caressed her fingers along the statue’s cheek as she picked up the cast iron sword that was on display next to his roost.

“Part of me says its time,” She held the sword in a battle stance as she paced a circle around the sleeping gargoyle. “But another part says to play this game longer.” She made a practice swing at the head. “Do I follow through and end this now?” She readied her stance again. “Then again, I could stay my hand and let your machinations play though to the end.”

She paced some more and took a few more half swings at the statue before the same voice of reason that always told her to put the sword back reminded her that it was wrong to attack a helpless target. She believed that it was Elisa’s blood that controlled her sense of compassion. However, Thailog’s programming and a friend’s encouragement still told her she could take advantage of his ignorance. She smiled as she put the sword back on its stand and walked toward the large glass window that made up one of the walls of this trophy room. “Looks like you live to get screwed another day.” She looked across the city’s skyline and admired the view this room had of the castle atop the Eyrie building at the other end of the city.

She walked over to a computer terminal and accessed the feed from one of the spy bugs that Thailog had sent to follow Demona. She was still in that cell that Goliath’s clan had ‘imprisoned’ her in. Delilah laughed as she watched Dominique Destine flick wads of tissue paper at the stone form of Goliath, and the mute tiger try to intervene.

She watched the monitor for a few minutes before her cell phone rang. “Good Morning,” She grinned at Thailog as she answered the call. Only one person at this time even knew that she had the phone, or even that she knew how to use one, it was a skill that the boulder in the room felt would lead to trouble.

“No, he doesn’t suspect a thing,” She moved back to the statue and placed her elbow on his head as she leaned on the thinker. “He doesn’t even know I can read let alone hack a computer.”

“Hah!” Delilah looked back at the monitors. “That bitch is still in the dark about my existence.”

“I doubt it,” She sighed as she admired herself in a nearby mirror. “He’s not taking as many liberties with their programming. They’d be lucky if they were smart enough to breath.”

“Two weeks,” The gargoyle caped her wings as she walked back to the window. “He has something planned at Coney Island.”

“Looking forward to it,” She sat in a rolling chair. “And I hope the meeting with Xanatos goes well.” Delilah closed the phone and laughed at Thailog’s statue. “If you only knew what we are up to.”
Here is the start of a Gargoyles fanfic i had milling about in my head.
It's my take on what Delilah is like when left to her own devices. It opens during the events of the episode "The Reckoning"

Gargoyles and related characters belong to Disney and any other characters belong to their respective creators as well

This is a really great start to your fanfiction. I would definetly read the rest of it.
The way Delilah's ambivalent nature shines through her deception to Thailog is well-developed. A good start to a fanfiction that I would like to see more of. :)
